Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, Lerone Clark Named Valedictorian and Salutatorian of Elmont Memorial’s Class of 2016

Meet Elmont Memorial High School’s Class of 2016 Valedictorian (Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, right) & Salutatorian (Lerone Clark, left).

The administration at Elmont Memorial is pleased to announce Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna as valedictorian and Lerone Clark as salutatorian of the Class of 2016.

Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna is a student who personifies the very best in every area of student life and is recognized for her intellectualism, sincerity, curiosity, tenacity, creativity and leadership.

She has pursued a rigorous college preparatory program that has included 11 Advanced Placement courses. Her attainment of a 101.64 GPA and designation as an AP Scholar with Distinction only scratches the surface of this young lady’s accomplishments.

She is a 2015-2016 Coca-Cola Scholars Program semifinalist and, as a member of Science Research, has received honors and awards in numerous New York State Science and Engineering Fair competitions, including the ASM International Long Island Chapter Award at the Long Island Science Congress Fair.

Augusta’s leadership skills are second to none. She is the president of Future Business Leaders of America, president of the Leo Club and executive director of Excel Education Preparation.

In addition, she participates in the World Language Honor Society, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society and Science Honor Society. She has also shown her altruistic nature as a volunteer at Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Augusta is a talented young lady with a social conscience and a deep regard for humanity. She plans to become a doctor.
Lerone Clark has a weighted GPA of 100.56 and plans to study chemical engineering in college.

He has already been accepted to the University of New Haven, as well as the Honors Program at New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has also applied to MIT, Columbia University, Stevens Institute of Technology and Macaulay Honors College at CCNY’s Grove School of Engineering.

Lerone is vice president of Peer Educators, captain of the boys dance team, a leader in Elmont Memorial’s jazz and marching bands, and starting point guard for the boys basketball team.

Congratulations to these hard workers, dreamers and fellow Elmont Spartans from all of us here at The Elmont Excelsior.

May you both continue to make your families, friends, teachers, school and your community proud.
