According to reports, Elmont may soon become home to the New York Islanders professional hockey team.
Tonight, July 10th, 2017 at 6 p.m. inside Elmont Memorial Library, residents and community members will have a chance to give testimony about the proposed Belmont Park redevelopment.

Because Elmont is a hamlet — not a town/village — the community relies heavily on grassroots and volunteer efforts by residents to have a seat at the decision-making table.
Last week, a group of residents wrote a letter urging New York State to consider “all economically viable development plans” for the property. The letter references ideas for development such as “tech startups, educational facilities, commercial, retail, restaurants, transit-oriented housing for young professionals” and more.
Want your voice to be heard on the issue? Click here to read and/or sign-on to the Community Letter, and be sure to come out tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. inside Elmont Memorial Library for the Listening Session. (You may also submit a written testimony to any of the elected officials on the flyer until Tuesday, July 11th.)
