Meet Marvin Anthony. Business-minded, active in his community — the best of both worlds as he might say. A true example of Elmont’s finest, Marvin is a product of the local school systems and does not hesitate to give back to his community.
He is a young man deeply rooted in family – drawing inspiration from the adults in his life. In our interview, Marvin talked about his professional ambitions and shared his vision for what he hopes to see here in his hometown of Elmont someday.
Great to catch up with Marvin. Here is our interview:
First name: Marvin Anthony
Age: 24
How long you’ve lived in Elmont: 17 years
Schools attended: Dutch Broadway Elementary School
Elmont Memorial High School
SUNY Morrisville/Hofstra University
Hofstra University
What are your career goals?
To own as many businesses as I can — I want my hand in everything.
What are your personal goals?
To be a success in my family’s eyes and to give back to my community as much as I can.
How would you describe your work ethic? Where does it come from?
I can’t really describe my work ethic but all I know is I get my work ethic from my aunt and uncle. They both grind their butts off every week; waking up early and coming home late & still have time to do things with me and my siblings. If I can at least do half of what they do I’ll be fine.
What do you believe sets Elmont apart from any other community?
We are so diverse and cultured – There isn’t a town in Long Island that has so many different countries and languages in one place like Elmont.
What do you wish there was more of in Elmont?
I wish there were more events like the “3-on-3,” but year round. Being a part of that event I see how it brings our community together, and I wish we can just do more events like that year ’round.
If you could in one sentence, how would you describe Elmont?
The best of both worlds.
The best advice you’ve ever gotten:
Don’t just work hard, work smart.
Much thanks to this future entrepreneur for taking the time. Keep your eyes peeled for Marvin as he works his way to the top!
