Elmont, N.Y. native, Ariel Edwards, was recently signed to the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA.  The 22 year-old Edwards was added to the Shock’s training camp roster on Wednesday as a free agent.

Edwards, a forward from Penn State University, averaged 15.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, and shot 45.2 percent from the field during the 2014 season. Edwards was named to the All-Big Ten first team following the 2014 season.

“Ariel has had a great career at Penn State and I look forward to seeing her in camp,” said Fred Williams, Head Coach of the Tulsa Shock. “Ariel had a terrific senior year at Penn State. She’s a powerful presence in the post and can help us in our interior area.”

Congratulations, Ariel, from all of us here at the Excelsior. Wishing you a healthy & successful career. Make Elmont proud!
